FIBROMYALGIA: I
have worked extensively with people who suffer from fibromyalgia and
find that massage can reduce the swelling and pain that can accompany
this condition. Regular massage sessions, on a consistent basis, will
help to desensitize painful areas and also may help to put you into a
state of remission.
-
CANCER: (A
doctor's written permission needed) Massage will be beneficial both
physically and psychologically for many cancer patients. It can make
a cancer sufferer feel whole again, and being touched will calm their
mind. Massage will also work on reducing tension and pain associated
with tight back muscles in a bedridden patients.
-
SICKLE CELL
DISEASE: (A doctor's written permission needed) Massage will help to
increase circulation and supply the outer extremities with needed
nutrients. Metabolism will increase, and the digestive system will
work more effectively. The painful areas caused by SCD will be
greatly reduced.
-
PHYSICAL AND
MENTAL ABUSE: People who suffer from one, or both, of these are
excellent candidates for receiving massage therapy. Massage will
break down tension caused by holding onto the effects of abuse and
make a person feel in control of their lives again. I have worked a
great deal with people who suffer from both conditions and find that
allowing them to be in total control increases the benefits of
massage. Abuse patients should not hesitate to inform me of any
special modifications they wish.
-
ANXIETY DISORDER:
Massage will help to relax a person suffering from anxiety and give
them a much more controlling attitude. I have worked a great deal
with people suffering from anxiety and, after a massage, I often see a
world of difference in them.
-
HIGH/LOW BLOOD
PRESSURE: (A doctor's written permission needed) Massage will
benefit either condition depending on how the massage is performed. I
am trained in making modifications.
-
PARKINSON'S
DISEASE: (A doctor's written permission needed) Massage will help to
ease the tremors and increase the motor nerve's function by breaking
up any scar tissue or muscle contractions that may be blocking a
nerve. Please note that this type of reaction to massage depends on
each person's level of Parkinson's disease.
-
ALZHEIMER'S
DISEASE: Massage will help to "stabilize" a person in early stages of
Alzheimer's and help them feel in control of themselves for longer
periods. The relaxation will give the patient less anxiety and allow
them to focus better.
-
ATTENTION-DEFICIT
HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER: Massage may not be appropriate for all who
have ADHD because of their disorder, but if those who experience this
condition are willing to give it a try, then the benefits can be
excellent. I have a lifetime experience with ADHD and know how to
work with people who share this condition.
-
DIABETES: (A
doctor's written permission needed) Massage will increase circulation
to the outer extremities and increase metabolism as well as
strengthening the digestive system.
-
RHEUMATOID
ARTHRITIS: Massage is very beneficial to RA suffers as it will help
to keep the fluid in the joint from becoming too thick and decrease
the swelling.
-
OSTEOARTHRITIS:
Massage will decrease the inflammation and keep joints and surrounding
tissue soft and elastic. This will in turn keep the bones from rubbing
against each other.
-
MULTIPLE
SCLEROSIS: (A doctor's written permission needed) Massage will help
to keep a person suffering from MS more flexible. It also aids the
circulatory system. Massage will also help a person in early stages to
be in better control of themselves.
